The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) has unveiled its comprehensive Hlokomela Festive Season campaign for 2025, outlining a coordinated series of national road-safety and commuter-wellness campaigns. As millions of South Africans prepare to travel across the country, SANTACO will be intensifying its presence at major taxi ranks, routes, and hotspots to ensure a safer festive season for all.
The programme, which began from 30 November 2025 and will run until 13th January 2026, includes activities such as roadworthiness checks, safety awareness activations, and Hlokomela Champions engagements across nine provinces. SANTACO will also participate jointly with government departments, law-enforcement agencies, and civil-society partners to reinforce responsible travel and compliance within the taxi industry.
SANTACO President Mr. Motlhabane Abnar Tsebe has emphasised the council’s unwavering commitment towards commuter protection during the peak travel season: “Our priority is simple and clear: every commuter must arrive safely at their destination. The festive season increases travel volumes and risk, and SANTACO will be on the ground across the country to support road-safety operations and reinforce responsible behaviour among operators. We are committed to working together with government and civil-society structures to safeguard our roads.” President Tsebe further appealed to the public to play their part by travelling responsibly:” We urge all commuters to cooperate with us and avoid carrying excessive or oversized luggage and ensure that vehicles are never overloaded. Safety is a shared responsibility. Let us work together to make this festive season safer for all South Africans.”
SANTACO encourages members of the media and the public to follow its official social media platforms for daily updates on campaign activities, rank activations, and safety messages throughout the festive period.
