SANTACO KZN wishes to update the public on an accident involving a minibus taxi that occurred this morning in the K Section area of KwaMashu.

Preliminary reports indicate that the accident was caused by a tyre puncture, which resulted in the driver losing control of the vehicle. The taxi subsequently veered off the road and landed in a ditch on the side of the roadway.

We are relieved to confirm that fortunately no passengers were injured during the incident. All commuters were safely evacuated and the necessary support measures were provided on site.

SANTACO KZN continues to echo the message of road safety at all times. We strongly encourage all drivers to conduct regular vehicle inspections, particularly checking tyres before embarking on trips, and to remain vigilant and considerate of other road users. Adhering to the rules of the road is a shared responsibility that ensures the safety of both drivers and passengers.

We commend the swift response of all emergency services who assisted at the scene and reaffirm our commitment to promoting safe and reliable public transport across the province.
