The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) is deeply saddened by a tragic road accident involving a minibus taxi on the N1 near Mokopane in Limpopo.

The accident involved a Toyota Quantum transporting commuters from Bochum en route to Thembisa in Gauteng. It is reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle following a tyre burst, which caused the taxi to overturn. Sadly, one commuter lost his life, while all other passengers sustained injuries and were taken to Voortrekker Hospital in Mokopane for medical treatment.

SANTACO Limpopo provincial representatives will visit the injured commuters from tomorrow to offer support to the affected passengers and their families.

SANTACO President Abnar Tsebe has expressed deep sadness over the incident, extending heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and wishing a speedy recovery to all those injured.

The organisation reiterates its call for continued vigilance, road safety, and strict adherence to vehicle roadworthiness to prevent such tragic incidents.
