The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) hereby confirms that the SANTACO Women National Chairperson, Ms Duduzekile Maphumulo, will attend the memorial service of the late Ms Matshediso Nteo, Chairperson of the Qwaqwa United Taxi Association in the Thabo Mofutsanyane Region, Free State. Ms Nteo, a respected leader and stalwart of the taxi industry, was tragically and brutally killed on 24 January 2026. Her passing has left the taxi industry and broader society mourning the loss of a courageous woman leader who dedicated her life to service, unity, and transformation within the sector.

Ms Maphumulo will attend the memorial service in solidarity with the Nteo family, the Qwaqwa United Taxi Association, and the broader taxi fraternity. She will also deliver a message of support on behalf of Women Taxi Operators nationally, reaffirming SANTACO’s commitment to peace, justice, and the protection of women leaders in the industry.
